The driver, clad in a Godfather T-shirt, was initially spotted driving erratically near Southern Cross Station, a mere stone's throw from Victoria Police headquarters. Over 60 police officers swiftly descended on the scene around 3 p.m., and the 35-year-old man was swiftly apprehended, taken into custody, and subsequently rushed to St. Vincent's Hospital on a stretcher after sustaining minor injuries. The incident, described as 'like something you'd see on TV' by a witness, sparked a sense of intrigue and concern among onlookers. While no charges have been filed yet, authorities anticipate laying charges against the driver upon his release from the hospital. The police statement to the Herald Sun revealed that patrolling officers had no choice but to ram the man's Hyundai i30 after observing his unsafe driving on Spencer Street. 'Police boxed in the vehicle and rammed it once to bring it to a stop and prevent any potential harm to the nearby public,' a spokesperson explained. 'It happened literally right in front of the store,' she recounted. 'It looked like a car was just driving past, then all of a sudden sirens started going off and the car sped away.
